The Healthcare Information Management Services Conference (HIMSCON) 2025 brought together top industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders from the country’s healthcare information management services (HIMS) sector for two days of forward-looking discussions on October 20 to 21 at Bonifacio Hall, Shangri-La The Fort, BGC. Organized by the Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP), the event tackled how the Philippine HIMS industry can sustain growth and resilience amid global disruptions—from the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence to evolving workforce demands.

When Vincent Remo, President of the Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP), opened the conference, he underscored one truth: progress in the HIMS industry depends on collaboration. “The Philippines stands to achieve transformative progress when academe, government, and industry operate in sync, driven by a shared vision and a unified calendar. HIMSCON is the platform where we align priorities, forge partnerships, and commit to the next bold steps toward national innovation and global competitiveness,” he said.
In today’s triple-disrupted landscape—geopolitical, operational, and technological—that reinvention has become essential. The HIMS sector, a longstanding backbone of the country’s IT-BPM exports, now finds itself at the crossroads of automation, workforce transformation, and global uncertainty. Yet the tone of HIMSCON 2025 was pragmatic, forward-looking, and optimistic, recognizing that sustaining growth requires not only technological readiness but also human and institutional alignment.

At HIMSCON 2025, sustainable growth took on a human dimension through the session “How AI Is Transforming the Healthcare BPO Workforce: From Processors to Patient-Centric Partners.” Rather than viewing automation as a threat, the panel explored how it can enhance the workforce by shifting focus from repetitive tasks to higher-value, empathy-driven roles.
Panelists from Sanas, Pointwest, and the Analytics & AI Association of the Philippines shared how AI tools are helping healthcare BPO professionals move beyond data processing to deliver more meaningful patient experiences and complex problem-solving. The panel “The New Security Perimeter: Managing Human and Digital Risk in the Modern BPO” examined how cybersecurity has evolved from being a cost center to becoming a foundation for business continuity and innovation.
As remote and hybrid work redefine traditional workplaces, cybersecurity now extends beyond IT infrastructure into culture and behavior. Every individual plays a role in safeguarding sensitive healthcare data. In a sector where credibility is the currency of competitiveness, embedding strong cybersecurity practices into daily operations is central to ensuring long-term resilience and sustainable progress.

Perhaps the most enduring insight from HIMSCON 2025 was that “sustainable growth” begins in classrooms as much as it does in boardrooms.
