Hidilyn Diaz congratulated her fellow gold medalist, Carlos Yulo, on his historic win at the 2024 Paris Olympics! She took to social media to write a heartfelt congratulatory message, sharing photos of them together.
The weightlifting champion expressed immense pride in Carlos for clinching the Philippines’ second Olympic gold medal by winning the men’s floor exercise at the Paris Olympics with a score of 15.000.
His win also marks the country’s first gold medal in the Paris Olympics, the first for a male Philippine athlete, and the first in artistic gymnastics.
“Proud ako sa iyo. I enjoy mo ang bunga ng pinagpaguran mo. At lagi mong ibabalik – sa Diyos at bayan, dahil lahat ng tagumpay natin ay hindi pansarili [I’m proud of you. Enjoy the fruits of your hard work. Always give back to God and the country, because all our successes are not only for ourselves],” she wrote. “Salamat sa lahat ng maganda at mabuting ginagawa at gagawin mo pa para sa Diyos at bayan! [Thank you for all the good things you do and will do for God and the people].”
She concluded her post by expressing her unwavering support for Carlos as an ate or elder sister.
“Congratulations! Nandito lang ang Ate Haidie mo para sa iyo lagi! [Congratulations! Your Ate Haidie is always here for you].”
Hidilyn was the first-ever Filipino to win an Olympic gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
