Hayao Miyazaki Is Releasing His New Studio Ghibli Film Next Year

There’s a new movie to watch out for, Ghibli fans! Hayao Miyazaki’s newest project “Kimitachi wa Do Ikiru ka” (“How Do You Live?”) is slated for release in Japan next year, according to the movie’s distributor Toho.

“How Do You Live?” which will premiere on July 14, 2023, is Miyazaki’s first feature film in 10 years, having gone out of retirement back in 2017. The title is based on a 1937 book written by a children’s book author and editor, which follows the story of a young boy who goes on a life-changing journey toward spiritual growth and discovering the answers to life’s greatest mysteries with the help of his uncle who guides him through a journal. Toho, however, noted that the Studio Ghibli movie will have an original action-fantasy storyline and that the title is yet to be finalized.

Miyazaki’s last film was in 2013 titled “Kaze Tachinu” (“The Wind Rises”). His most famous works are “Spirited Away,” “Howl’s Moving Castle,” “Princess Mononoke,” and “My Neighbor Totoro,” just to name a few.

Not much is known yet about the upcoming film but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for updates within the coming months.
