The House of Representatives has committed to raising Php 10 million from their own salaries to give incentives for the Filipino gold medalists of the 30th Southeast Asian Games. The office of Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano announced that House Resolution No. 568 aims to hail the Filipino athletes by granting them additional perks by setting aside a portion of their January 2020 salary.

“As a concrete manifestation of the commonality of the goal to bring honor and pride to the country, the leaders and members of the House of Representatives deem it proper to deduct individual pledges from their salaries for January 2020 as additional incentives to Filipino gold medal winners in the 30th SEA Games,” the resolution stated.

These additional incentives will be on top of the cash prizes given to them by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), as well as their other entitlements under the law.
