I stopped by Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips in Newport Mactan for an early dinner with a friend, curious to see how the globally known concept would translate locally. It felt like an easy, no-frills way to sit down for a meal and see what the brand had to offer.

We were greeted right away and shown to a table inside. The interiors had a distinctly British feel, polished but casual, and designed in a way that felt intentional without being overdone. The space was relaxed and comfortable, making it easy to settle in.

We started with the scallop poppers and chicken poppers, which made for easy starters to share. They were straightforward and enjoyable, easing us into the meal without feeling too heavy.

For our mains, we ordered the fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and the lobster, all served with a side of fries. We alternated between the sauces—the mango for a touch of sweetness, the tartar for something classic and creamy, and the sriracha when we wanted a bit of heat.

The fish tacos stood out the most. The fish tasted fresh, and the flavors were balanced without being greasy or overwhelming. The shrimp tacos were solid, while the lobster and fries leaned more indulgent, making it a good option if you’re looking to treat yourself.
For drinks, I had the toffee milkshake, which was sweet, rich, and surprisingly satisfying without being too heavy. My friend ordered the watermelon shake, which was light, refreshing, and a good contrast to the heavier dishes, especially welcome in Cebu’s heat.

We ended the meal with peach cobbler. My friend from Texas was especially excited to see it on the menu, as it has been the official state cobbler since 2013—a nod to the famous Hill Country peaches and the dish’s deep roots in local comfort food.

Overall, Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips keeps things simple, offering fresh, familiar dishes in a relaxed setting. It’s an easy place to enjoy a satisfying meal, whether you’re a local or just passing through the area.
