Google commemorated the 107th birthday of Dr. Fe del Mundo with a doodle on its homepage. The search engine giant used an image of the first Filipina national scientist’s on their homepage that went live on November 27.
On the Google doodle, Dr. del Mundo can be seen attending to a child patient using a stethoscope.
The female doctor was born on November 27, 1911, in Intramuros, Manila. Apparently, her inspiration to be a doctor was her older sister.
Dr. del Mundo continued to do her job, making rounds until she was 99 years old even while in a wheelchair.
In 1980, she was given the rank and title of National Scientist of the Philippines. In 2010, she was awarded the Order of Lakandula.
