Fashion Smile Clear Braces
More than a week later, I came back for the application of my Fashion Smile Clear Braces. These Sapphire braces are the newest innovation in braces technology – unlike ceramic brackets which just match your teeth color, the sapphire brackets are actually see through. That means they don’t tend to get stained like ceramics. They’re also tougher compared to ceramic brackets which tend to break because of the brittle material. Most importantly (and most relevant to my vain concerns), they’re very, very hard to notice!

The whole procedure took about 45 minutes and there was no pain or discomfort. Dr. Shideh, who did the procedure, explained that the state of your teeth would dictate how long you’d have to wear braces. Adjustments are are also done every month and coming in late could potentially extend the time you’d need to wear your braces. A list of food no no’s was also given to me – this would mostly be hard, crunchy food which could damage your brackets (huhuhu bye bye #ChibogTime).
Fashion Smile offers both metal braces and clear sapphire braces. Although the clear braces cost more than the metal ones, Fashion Smile’s different payment options allow you to get the more expensive clear braces at a plan where the price difference wouldn’t seem so substantial.

Here we are at month 1!
Braces work by moving teeth to the desired aligned position with constant pressure. This is why the monthly adjustments are important and also why there may be pain or discomfort when these adjustments are done. With each month, however, you see progress little by little. At month one, there is very little to see but I will be posting progress photos here as we go along this journey to perfect teeth.
