Love teams have always been deeply ingrained in the Pinoy entertainment industry (for as long as even our parents can remember) and it’s all because of this single fact: it works. We all need a little kilig in our lives, after all!
In this modern era we have the likes of LizQuen, JaDine, and KathNiel to give us our much-needed dose of kilig in movies and TV shows, and we adore them, but sometimes we can’t help but miss classic love teams from decades past. Oh, all the nostalgic feels! I mean, 90s love team (and former flames) Angelica Panganiban and Carlo Aquino are reuniting for a movie, and people are going craaazy!
Which made us think…which other former celebrity love teams would we love to see reunited on screen??? Aha. So we made a list!

8. John Lloyd and Kaye
Tabing Ilog fans, where ya at??? Four years of my pre-teen life were dedicated to watching teen drama show Tabing Ilog every weekend, where a young John Lloyd Cruz was leading man to Kaye Abad. The two also dated in real life, and we bet any 90s kid would love to see them together on screen again! Eds and Rovic 4 lyf! <3
7. Sharon and Gabby
When Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion reunited for a fast food commercial earlier this year, the internet exploded. The two were a huge love team back in the 80s, starring alongside each other in several movies, and were even briefly married in real life. No one thought they would ever been seen together on a project again, so if a simple ad reunion could break the internet like that, can you imagine if they actually did a movie together again???
6. Judy Ann and Piolo
Let us not forget, that in the early 2000s, the Judy Ann Santos-Piolo Pascual love team happened, starring in TV and films together. It’s been 12 years though since their last movie together—Don’t Give Up On Us in 20016—and fans hoping to see them back together on screen isn’t so far fetched.
In an interview for an insurance company where Judy Ann endorses alongside Piolo and ABS-CBN executive Charo Santos Concio, the three shared that a reunion project has been on the table all these years, but just haven’t come into fruition yet. Fingers crossed!
5. Sandara and Hero
Yes, that Sandara. Sandara “Dara” Park and Hero Angeles are both products of the 2004 talent show Star Circle Quest. The two were quickly paired up and debuted as a love team starring in movies and shows together. They never got together in real life, but their on screen chemistry is on point, and they look adorable together! Dara is a huge pop star in Korea now but still often visits the Philippines for projects, so why not a reunion movie with Hero just for old times’ sake?
4. Heart and John
Once upon a time, Mrs. Chiz Escudero, aka Heart Evangelista, made her debut acting stint in teen show G-mik in 1999 as John Prats’ love interest. (I loved G-mik!) And, no surprise here, the two found love on set and started dating IRL, too. They starred in movies together in 2003 and 2004’s Bcuz Of U and My First Romance, and were one of the most sought-after love teams that time. The two are both happily married to other people now, but wouldn’t it be nice to see them reunited in a project?
3. Jolina and Marvin
Guys. Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin were the LizQuen of the 90s. And you know it was something amazing when their movies still get referenced…in 2018. Their movies Kung Ayaw Mo Huwag Mo and Labs Kita…Okey Ka Lang are classic Pinoy rom-com movies that give millennials all the nostalgic feels.
In 2017, Jolina announced that a reunion movie will be happening, but no updates have been made since, so until then…we’ll be holding our breaths!
2. Kristine and Jericho
I don’t think any Filipino in the years 2000 to 2002 didn’t see at least one episode of Pangako Sa’Yo. That TV drama was the bomb. So iconic. It was the project that rocketed Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales’s acting careers. The two got together in real life, too. It has been many years since we’ve last seen the pair on screen, and until now, though they’re both happily married to their own spouses, fans still can’t help but feel kilig when the subject of Tin-Echo love team comes up. Will we ever see them together on a project once more? We certainly hope so.
1. Lea and Aga
Unlike most of the other love teams on this list, this pair never dated in real life. But here’s the thing: Lea Salonga is Aga Muhlach’s “The One That Got Away” — the actor said so himself. Life imitating art, perhaps? This former love team was huge in the 90s, starring in romantic movies like Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal and Sana Maulit Muli. Fans still go crazy when these two would do just so much as acknowledge each other, so clearly, some magic is still there. Will that magic reach the screen soon? We very much would like to hope so.
