First Filipino Designer to Present at Paris Fashion Week in July

Filipinos are notable in the music, arts, food, and fashion industries. They are passionate about their craft and have represented worldwide. Such is this next Filipino designer who will represent in Paris next month.

The 44-year-old designer is the first Filipino designer to represent in the most prestigious couture event, Parish Fashion week, on July 3rd, 2016, asianjournal.com reported.

The proud product of Samar told Khaleej Times that he will showcase his 30-piece Autumn/Winter collection and will be nature-inspired with “some influences of the Philippines.” Furthermore, his collection would be a homage to the beauty of nature.

His designs will be presented by a non-profit organization, Asian Couture Federation (ACF). A federation that helps promote Asian couturiers.

Who is Michael Cinco?

Michael Cinco is a Filipino designer based in Dubai. According to his biography, he has worked with international supermodels like Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell. Moreover, his creations have been worn by Hollywood A-list celebrities like Sofia Vergara, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, to name a few.

Locally, he was also the designer behind Marian Rivera’s elegant wedding gown.

Born in Catbalogan City in Samar, Philippines, Michael studied at the University of the Philippines Diliman, majoring in fine arts for the first two years and then went to SLIMS fashion and arts school in the Philippines. He then studied fashion and pattern making in London.

Admirably, he was the first Filipino designer to be featured on the reality show, America’s Next Top Model.

When it comes to representing our country in the field of Fashion, Filipinos are no stranger. Truly, our Filipino designers are world-class.
