Enchong Dee Expresses Gratitude for Being a Part of Historical Film ‘GomBurZa’

Enchong Dee is still in awe of the success of the historical film “GomBurZa,” where he portrayed the role of Padre Jacinto Zamora. In an Instagram post, he expressed his gratitude for being a part of it and for those who supported the film.

“For days now, I’m in so much awe! Still trying to comprehend yung pagmamahal ninyo sa @gomburzafilm. Hindi pa sya nag-register sa utak ko [Still trying to comprehend your love and support for @gomburzafilm. My brain still hasn’t grasped it],” he wrote. 

The actor shared photos from the set with his co-stars and a clip of the film’s supporters during their parade. 

“I had the opportunity to work with respectful, dedicated, and hard working team, from pre production til the promo,” [sic] he added.

Dee also reflected on how it reminded him how much he loved his job as an actor, “I know that this film will go beyond my life, and for that, I’m eternally grateful.”

He thanked everyone who watched and supported “GomBurZa,” “Ang sarap sa pakiramdam [It feels good] to see people rallying behind a film because of the effect it gave them after watching. So to the people who lined up, organized a block screening, and shared our film to their loved ones… Taos pusong pasasalamat [Heartfelt gratitude].”

“GomBurZa” is among the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival entries, which also stars Dante Rivero (Padre Mariano Gomez) and Cedrick Juan (Padre José Burgos), along with Piolo Pascual, Epi Quizon, Jaime Fabregas, Carlitos Siguion-Reyna, Khalil Ramos, and Elijah Canlas.

Helmed by Pepe Diokno, the film follows the story of three martyr priests, also known as GomBurZa, executed by garrote during the Spanish colonial era in the Philippines in 1872.

It is the most-awarded film of the 2023 MMFF, winning seven awards, including Best Sound, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Gatpuno Antonio Villegas Cultural Award, Best Director, Best Actor for Cedrick Juan, and Second Best Picture.
