Donate Second-Hand Items to Segunda Mana and Help Raise Funds for Scholarship Programs
When in Manila, friends love to share really good news. I’d love to share this one with you. What’s funny is that Caritas is in my neighborhood in Pandacan and it took someone who lives in Pasig to point out Caritas’ pickup service for second-hand items that people would want to donate. Don’t know how to dispose of your old refrigerators, components or other appliance that are still usable or recyclable, but consume too much space in your home? Don’t want the hassle of posting in an auction/exchange site, taking calls from strangers, and scheduling meet-ups? Call SEGUNDA MANA and they can pick up these items right from your house! Segunda Mana is a donations-in-kind program of Caritas Manila that makes helping easy. You even help fund scholarship programs for the youth. Call 5640205 or 09298343857 for pick-up of donations. They also accept slightly broken/busted appliance that can still be repaired or restored. They will fix them and sell them at their Charity Stores. Used clothes/shoes (still usable) and other inventories you want to dispose of are also accepted. Proceeds go to scholarship programs and charitable activities of Caritas.
Literally, Segunda Mana means “secondhand”. But in this case, Segunda Mana, also known as Caritas in Kind, is a fund-raising project that collects items you don’t need—used or unused—which have value and may be sold. It was launched on October 27,2007 by Caritas Manila. Proceeds from the sale of donated items will fund Caritas Manila’s programs for the poor.
What can you donate?
Giving usually means sharing what is precious to us. But with Segunda Mana, you can help by giving what you don’t need anymore – because what is no longer useful to you may still be valuable to others. Segunda Mana allows you to free up space in the workplace or home while helping those most in need at the same time.
Segunda Mana accepts the following items:
– OLD ITEMS that can still be used
– USED ITEMS that still have value
– NEW ITEMS
– OLD STOCKS and NON-MOVING INVENTORIES
