A recent Facebook post by Jonell Estillore provided a comparison between Metro Manila Festival’s 2015 and Tribeca Film Festival’s 2016 banners. Though the Tribeca Film Festival banner is for 2016 submissions, it was noted that this banner was posted earlier than that of Metro Manila Film Festival’s.

The website https://www.metromanilafilmfestival.com was then put under maintenance and the post taken down from MMFF’s Facebook page.

Gigi Fontanilla Mallillin of MMFF reached out to Estillore on Facebook, thanking him for “pointing out the matter”. It was stated that the website was under testing and that they had no intention of infringing copyright content.
