This university now offers Mobile Legends as a PE class

As the Philippines shifts into a new normal, we see the different adjustments that countless people, companies, and institutions are making as an end to the COVID-19 pandemic remains elusive. One significant change is the adaptation of educational institutions to online instruction.

De La Salle University is taking on this challenge with full force, even offering e-sports as an alternative for physical education. For the required class of team sports, Lasallians will be learning the merits of teamwork by playing Mobile Legends.

The course description reads: “This course focuses on a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) combined with physical exercise. Students will learn to practice soft skills such as interpersonal communication, cooperation, integrity, self-discipline, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills.”

Since classes only began this week it’s unclear exactly how this works, in terms of grading and instruction but still – what a time to be alive.
