The “Pambansang Ginoo” also shared that he previously courted a Filipina actress, whom he followed in South Korea to surprise her.
“That time, nanliligaw pa lang ako. So, parang medyo nahihirapan ako makuha yung yes nung babae, so parang sabi ko, ‘I wanted to prove myself to her’ [That time, I was just courting. So, it seems like I’m having a bit of a hard time getting her ‘yes,’ so I said, ‘I wanted to prove myself to her’],” he said.
David noted that the actress was working in Korea at that time. He then promptly booked a ticket a day before the flight to follow her.
“Pag dating ko doon, sobrang lamig, tapos bumili ako ng bulaklak, tapos nilagay ko lang dito (inside his shirt). Sobrang lamig, tumambay ako sa CR. Tapos yun na, nakita ko na siya, binigay ko na yung flower [When I arrived there, it was so cold. Then, I bought a flower. I placed it here. It was so cold, I hung out in the comfort room. Then, I saw her, I gave her the flower].โ
Although they didn’t end up together, he reiterated that it was okay since his goal was to prove his love.
“Gusto ko lang ipakita na ito yung โThat Kind of Loveโ na you deserve [I just want to show the โThat Kind of Loveโ you deserve],โ he emphasized, referencing his upcoming film “That Kind of Love” with Barbie Forteza.

The actor also talked about how he views love at the age of 29 compared to when he was younger, emphasizing the importance of being understanding.
“I think we have to empathize with your partner. And for sure, marami kasing problema along the way, kailangan mong lumaban. Kailangan mong intindihin kung saan nanggagaling yung partner mo [And for sure, there would be many problems along the way, you need to fight. You need to understand where your partner is coming from].”
He even mentioned his ideal woman, describing her as “someone who is smart and understanding.”
Aside from “That Kind of Love,” David will star in an upcoming historical drama, “Pulang Araw,” alongside Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, Alden Richards, and Dennis Trillo.
