Cinemalaya Favorite “Blue Room” to Stream on Netflix Soon

Do you love Filipino films? Here’s one you should add to your to-watch list.

Blue Room will be available for streaming on Netflix starting August 15, 2023.

Here’s the official synopsis:

“Rebel Rebel, an indie rock band composed of woke albeit sheltered teens, gets its biggest break at a prestigious local music festival. But after their celebratory night at the local bar, they are arrested for drug possession. Instead of the standard procedures, they were hauled to the Blue Room, a VIP detention area where they can bribe their way out through rogue cops. The band members have to decide whether to use their privilege to go on with their lives or to own up to what they had been preaching.”

Blue Room stars juan karlos, Harvey Bautista, Nourijune, Keoni Jin, Elijah Canlas, Soliman Cruz, Bombi Plata, Jericho Arceo, Bon Lentejas, and Richard Cepeda.

It is directed by Ma-an L. Asuncion-Dagñalan.

The film was screened at the 2022 edition of the Cinemalaya, where it won Best Director, Best Best Supporting Actor (for Cruz), Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, and the Special Jury Prize. It was also nominated for Best Film.

Blue Room also received 10 nominations at the FAMAS Awards, including for Best Picture, Supporting Actor (for Cruz), Supporting Actress (for Nourijune), Director, Screenplay, Production Design, Editing, Cinematography, Musical Score, and Sound.
