Are you a fan of K-Pop? Or into anime? Or simply just hungry and loves to eat? Lucky Chinatown has just the right event for you as they showcase some of their best Asian restaurants to satisfy your Asian cultural and food cravings! Taste different flavors as Lucky Chinatown celebrates Asian culture and cuisine with its very own Asian Music and Food Fest.
Yesterday, August 23, 2016, the event kicked off with a showcase of various Asian cuisine from China, Japan, Korea, and, of course, the Philippines!
Noodles in various styles, perfect for the cold and rain weather
Not only is it an event for those who want to have a taste of Asia, it is also an avenue to enjoy the culture of each Asian country through performances from homegrown Filipino talents. As the start-off for the event, we were graced by students from Chiang Kai Shek College.
Students from the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines also gave a spectacular performance as they dancedย Korea’s traditional fan dance.
Another highlight of the event was the noodle-making demo. Our friends from Noodles Everyday demonstrated in front of a live audience the process of making noodles (called “hand pulling”) and how long it actually takes.
In this live hand pulling demo, the dough used made 10 bowls of noodles!
We had seen live performances representing China and Korea; could we forget our own local talents? Of course not! Some students from the Center for Pop Music serenaded us with beautiful renditions of different Filipino music.
If you are still hungry for more Asian flavors, don’t fret. Asian Food and Music Fest will be at the Lucky Chinatown Event Center all week long. More Japanese and Korean cuisine will be showcased as part of their East Asia Feast. And for K-Pop lovers out there, there will be K-Pop inspired performances during the event.
On August 27, the spotlight is on China as they will have a “Chinese Food Trip” together with various Chinese cultural performances plus more cooking demos. As the event closes on August 28, not only will it be a “Filipino Fiesta” featuring local dishes, The Voice of the Philippines star, Daryl Ong, will also be present as part of his album tour.
