The two Filipino actors who are joining the cast members of the much-anticipated Bridgerton sequel are James Bradwell and Martin Sarreal. Both of them talked about their experiences behind the scenes of the show.

On social media, James Bradwell who plays the role of Lord Basilio wrote, “Had such a gorgeous time playing my small part of The Ton this season, not least in bringing the first Filipino name to the roster of Lords and Debutantes.”

“When first offered the role under a different name of East Asian heritage, I wondered whether there was an opportunity to rechristen my Lord with a name representative of my own heritage,” he added. “Feeling emboldened to reach out to production, I was met with an enthusiastic response welcoming and encouraging my input. I suggested a number of Filipino surnames and Basilio was born!”

The Bridgerton Filipino actor even quipped, “Maybe Basilio of Bicol? The Viscount of Visayas? The Lord of Longganisa?”

He also expressed his appreciation to the producers for hearing him out in the post, saying, “Most important to me in this exchange was that I was made to feel like a collaborator in my role, not a beggar at the door as these conversations can sometimes feel in this industry. Thank you @shondaland and @bridgertonnetflix for dignifying me in that way.”

“Hope our Viscount finds a lovely new horse by the season’s end 🐴 (RIP Pegasus)…maybe a love match too, who knows! He’d have to recur next season if not, no? 🌱”

“Made some great, new pals on this and got to reconnect with some old ones,” he continued. “Also there are now officially TWO Pinoys in the Bridgerton universe… What more can you truly ask for?”
