BloggedIn: ASEAN is a social media-led event that gathers 100 young influencers in Manila to hear about the most important and thought-provoking issues surrounding the upcoming ASEAN Integration.

EVENT DATE: November 15, Saturday

TIME: 1:00pm-10:00pm

VENUE: A Space, Makati

In 2015, the 10 nations of the ASEAN (Association of SouthEast Asian Nations) will undergo an economic integration which will have drastic effects in a wide range of fields. The youth is in the forefront of this integration as it is their future that will be affected by this change. In addition, the growing trend of social media and blogging gives the youth an amplified channel to voice out their thoughts. Jointly organized by Barrack Obama’s Young Southeast Asian Leader’s Initiative and the Ayala Foundation, BloggedIn: ASEAN leverages on these trends by providing a channel for the SouthEast Asian Youth to “be logged into” a social issue and consequently, produce creative work that spreads awareness, produces insight, and inspires action that addresses this issue.

The Program

In the midnight of November 15, the blogathon begins with initiatives from our ASEAN neighbors such as Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, and others, who will create their own content tackling the ASEAN Integration. It will end the same day with a big event in Manila.

The event in Manila puts together three key program features that aim to create a unique and meaningful experience not just for delegates but for anyone logged on to their network.

Lightning Talks. Delegates first learn from a series of bite- sized, interdisciplinary talks from today’s thought-leaders & experts. An esteemed group of experts include the following:

  • Richard Heydarian for Politics and International Affairs
  • Kip Oebanda for Human Trafficking
  • Al Gabriel  for Food Safety and Security
  • Roy Cosico for Health
  • Paul Rivera for Technology and Entrepreneurship
  • Ivan Henares for Heritage and Travel
  • Lesley Cordero for Governance and Disaster Management
  • Jonathan Yabut for Business and Career
  • Jolly Estaris (host) for Social Media

The Blogathon. Teams are then tasked to research, write, and design their own blog entries showcasing an ASEAN issue they care about. Each team will also be accompanied and helped out by mentors, each of whom are young leaders in their own respective fields.

Making an Impact. The bigger challenge: make their blogs go viral. The objective is to involve as many people in the digital conversation in the allotted time. Top blog entries, based on shares, likes and content, will then be awarded.
