BGC Eats: The Ultimate Food Trip

On the bus, JJ and the staff from BGC kept the crowd occupied with games and prizes ala Cebu Pacific so remembering things you ate and trivia is important. Accompanied by a soundtrack he compiled himself, the bus ride to Serendra was smooth and enjoyable. We were told that from now on, we were going on foot, so we said goodbye to the BGC HoHo bus and took exactly 30 steps to get to our next destination–the uber popular Chuck’s Deli, the only place in Manila that “took sandwiches seriously.”

Chuck's Deli

The finest sandwiches in the land!

If we weren’t full yet, Chuck’s Deli made sure we didn’t come out of their store wanting. Imagine if you will, a buffet of their best sandwiches and paninis, such as the spicy, hearty Reuben and the tangy and sweet Pepperoni Panini, bowls of chips and several samplers of their famous Arce Dairy and carabao milkshakes.

Chez KarineChez Karine was the perfect end to a perfect afternoon.

Honestly, we have no idea how we made it out there alive after we nearly died of full and happy stomachs. The milkshake, especially, was a cup of perfection. But as all meals go, it ended with dessert. A sunny walk to the other side of Serendra brought us to our last spot of the tour in Chez Karine, where Chef Karen Yang was only too happy to welcome the crowd of 30 people into her patisserie. “I know you must be tired from all your walking,” she said jokingly as she served us some citrusy sweet, slushy Yuzu and her famous macarons. Chatting happily and chewing on the buttery filling, it was clear that we had just spent a perfect afternoon in BGC.

We honestly, truly and sincerely hope that BGC doesn’t stop at four tours! Is there anything better you can think of When in Manila?
