Belo Medical Group officially launched The Scar Project, an initiative that brings together decades of medical expertise and a deep understanding of the emotional weight scars can carry. Held at The Estate in Makati, the event gathered media, advocates, and ambassadors to amplify a message long in the making: behind every scar is a story—and every story deserves healing.

At the heart of this project is a mission 35 years in the making, “This initiative is the result of decades of researching the best treatments, assembling the best team of doctors, and truly listening to our patients,” said Dr. Vicki Belo. “Scars are some of the most difficult conditions to treat. But sometimes, life happens—and when it does, we want to be the experts you can count on. Not just to treat the scar, but to walk with you through the healing.”

Dr. Hayden Kho, Belo Medical Group’s Managing Director, added perspective on why this project matters now more than ever, “This project is for those who feel stuck in the past because of the scars they see in the mirror every day. It’s for those who’ve done the inner work, but still carry the outer reminder of something painful. This is our way of giving back,“ he said.
Belo Medical Group is searching for seven individuals with visible scars and meaningful stories. These individuals will receive personalized care from a multi-specialty team—with the goal of restoring not just their appearance, but their confidence and sense of self.

The media launch brought together project ambassadors Catriona Gray and Alden Richards, with support from Iza Calzado, Donny Pangilinan, Belle Daza, and Bianca Umali—all of whom lent their voices to the project’s powerful message. A panel discussion moderated by Korina Sanchez-Roxas offered deeper insight into the physical and emotional complexities of scarring. Joining Dr. Vicki Belo were Dr. Lutgardo Caparas Jr. (Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery), Dr. Dax Carlo Pascasio (Craniofacial Surgery), Dr. Gary Bunagan (Oculoplastic Surgery), and Dr. Joan Mae G. Perez-Rifareal (Psychiatry)—a few of the specialists from the team of doctors volunteering their expertise for this journey to healing.

Each specialist spoke to the challenges in treating scars—both seen and unseen—and emphasized the importance of a collaborative, compassionate approach to healing.
A moving moment during the event came from the story of Rissan Mueslos, the personal driver of Piolo Pascual, who survived a traumatic facial accident. His doctor shared the stages of his recovery, serving as a real-life example of how advanced care and emotional support can transform a patient’s life.
