This one-on-one interview with Anne Hathaway for the Philippine Star Entertainment Section with Editor Ricky Lo is creating a buzz now in the online world.
Some say they cringed at the awkwardness and the seemingly underprepared Ricky Lo while also calling out lowly local showbiz interview norms.
On the other hand, some say that it was Les Miserables star Anne Hathaway who was not very giving with her responses.
What’s your take on the issue?

Anne Hathaway Ricky Lo Interview Parody
Also, we found another YouTube user who seems to have been able to save the original video and re-upload it. Here it is :

Guys, kindly give our kababayan a break. Ricky Lo didn’t ask the most stupid questions, it was Anne Hathaway who started the conversation with a when-will-this-string-of-international-press-interview-ever-gonna-end look. And Ricky Lo only looked bad because Anne clammed up to some questions rather impolitely. Other Hollywood celebrities could get away with it with a chuckle, some could even tell reporters to f* off without losing their pleasant disposition. The awkwardness started with Hathaway, and Lo being a bungling interviewer failed to handle the situation, so it all went downhilll from there.
Lo should learn from this. Should always continue learning. But he doesn’t deserve to be booed for an interview where the celebrity thinks every other question is too personal. Again, if it was somebody else who answered the questions in a heart beat, it wouldn’t be controversial at all. And no one would waste energy to say “OMG! I can’t believe Ricky Lo asked that!”
Now if the snorts to Lo is for other reasons, then have a blast. I’m just concerned that the flaks aren’t doing him, or you, or this country any good.
I DIED! Hahahaha! Guess he was so used to gossips and peaking into people’s lives he doesn’t know how to do a straight-up interview without becoming too personal. It’s as if all he saw was the trailer of Anne singing “I Dreamed A Dream” (how thin she was, inquiring about the song per se) and everything else was gossip journalism.
It was painful to watch. 🙁 There was no rapport and it was indeed awkward. Sayang ung opportunity.
To ricky lo: anne isnt like any filipino celebrity who, at a drop of a hat, can share personal experiences like how poor they were way before making it big. There are people, in showbiz or not, who find this a very touchy issue. But filipino celebrities seem to use this as strategy to gain fans. Well, it works very well indeed but only here in the philippines. So dont get too personal with ur interviewees unless ur tasked to doing one like in vogue or cosmo! But this is an interview for a movie promotion! Why am i advising u this? Uve done this a million times already! Geez!
What a horrible interview. TBH, I’d act the same if I were interviewed in that way. It’s a promotional interview, not a personal one. Obviously, the questions may touch personal issues, but not as so the remove the real focus of the interview, which is for the movie itself. Hollywood stars are not the same as local celebs. While most local celebs are overly dramatic, most Hollywood thespians are very objective with their answers (especially in film interviews).
