In the spirit of quality education for all, UP Kalipunan ng mga Mag-aaral ng Sosyolohiya holds true to their advocacy by recommencing its annual donation drive event entitled Project Aklatan this March 30, 2020. Project Aklatan seeks to further the goal of enriching the minds of children, promoting the importance of learning, and for schools in far-flung areas to have access to quality education.
This year’s Project Aklatan will be held in Diaz Elementary School at Porac, Pampanga – a school for Aeta children that was affected by the earthquake that hit Central Luzon last April 2019. According to the teachers of Diaz Elementary School, all the books, chairs, and other school materials were left on the mountains, unable to be retrieved due to the dangers of the land collapsing.
Due to this, Diaz Elementary School is currently located on a (privately-owned) relocation site, with no electricity, limited funds, lack of school supplies, no shelves, and with only borrowed chairs and books which they have to return to nearby schools as soon as possible.
Given this, the organization believes that your participation will be of great benefit for the forwarding of the goal of education for the Aeta children of Diaz Elementary School. The organization kindly calls on to your hearts and minds to help bring success to this project by donating books, bookshelves, school supplies or any amount of monetary donations.
UP KMS believes that quality education and a conducive environment for learning are a right that every child must-have.
