In an interview on Unang Hirit, Lopez confirmed that they have implemented a fare increase on both traditional and modern jeepneys.

“Pagdating sa ating mga jeepney, ngayon po ang traditional jeepney natin ang pamasahe natin is P13.00. May conditional increase pong kasama yan, yan ay ginawa na natin permanent at nagdagdag pa po tayo ng P1.00 (When it comes to our jeepneys, the current fare for our traditional jeepneys is P13.00. There was a conditional increase included before, which we have now made permanent, and we have also added an additional P1.00). So, P14.00 na po sa first four kilometers. That’s for the traditional jeepney,” Lopez said. “Pagdating sa ating mga (When it comes to) modern jeepney, for the first four kilometers, we’re adding P2.00.”

According to Lopez, the fare increase for jeepneys will take effect on Thursday, March 19.

Fare increase on other modes of transportation, like taxis, is yet to be announced.

This price hike is attributed to the continuous rise in fuel costs due to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
