The actress said she was on her way home from taping when she saw the injured dog in the middle of the road.
“The crying of the aspin broke my heart. I had to beg Kuya Bong (my Driver) to stop right away. I couldn’t just leave him/her there—alive or not,” she stated. “And as soon as we managed to park safely by the side, I grabbed my blanket and just ran for my life on the side of the road, looking for the hit-and-run victim.”
Carla noted that her personal assistant found the dog motionless and emaciated, lying on the shrubs. She then rushed the dog to the vet and prayed for him to survive along the way.
“We laid him on the floor of my van, covered in my blanket, and I sat on the floor with him to make sure he stayed awake and warm. I grabbed my rosary, laid it on top of his head, and said a quick prayer,” she continued. “I just kept talking to him and telling him to fight. More like pleading.”
According to Carla, the dog weighs over seven kilograms. He described him as having a “gentle demeanor” and a “cute face.” To her surprise, the dog’s x-ray results revealed no fractures or internal damage.
“God gave us another miracle last night when the vet came out and said, ‘Ang lakas niya! (He’s strong!) No broken bones!’ What a miracle indeed,” she beamed.

She also shared that she named the dog Puppy, “I couldn’t think of a name for him so I decided to just name him what I call all dogs—PUPPY.”
Carla concluded her post by reminding the public to be mindful of stray animals on the road.
“Everyone, please please break for animals on the road. I am begging you. And if you could save a life, please do,” she ended her post.
The Kapuso actress is an animal welfare advocate and pet parent. She previously adopted dogs from the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).
