Newlyweds Kim Bernardino and Jonathan Tolentino fulfilled their wedding goals by having their favorite band, Ang Bandang Shirley, perform on their wedding day.
The OPM band has been part of their love story, and if you’ve read our previous feature about this lovely couple, even their prenup shoot was inspired by songs of Ang Bandang Shirley!
It was really a dream come true for Kim and Jonathan, from watching them on stage during gigs—where their paths intertwined—to dancing to their songs live on their special day.
“It was only a dream before! I even told them years back that when we get married, they will play live at our wedding. And it happened,” Kim said.
What made it more memorable and heartwarming was Ang Bandang Shirley arranged a song for their first dance song, Iyong (First Dance Edition). Other songs they performed were Umaapaw, Favorite, Together Forevs, and Nakauwi Na.
Most of the guests were fans of the band, so it was also like attending a mini-concert!
“It was like a full circle moment for us! We had so much fun singing with our friends and loved ones who also know about our love story. Some of our titos and titas enjoyed it too kahit [even though] they only heard of them that day!” Kim shared.
She also revealed that Ang Bandang Shirley wasn’t actually available on their wedding day, but the band still made things work.
“So we had the set in between after the ceremony and before the dinner. It was a pre-reception party, and it become more beautiful and special!”
