Sophia Laforteza will debut with HYBE Labels and Geffen Records’ newest global girl group Katseye! On Saturday, November 18, the six members of the upcoming girl group were announced at the finale of The Debut: Dream Academy talent competition.
The 20-year-old Filipina became the first-ever member of Katseye, followed by Lara (USA), Yoonchae (South Korea), Megan (USA), Daniela (USA), and Manon (Switzerland).

It’s no surprise that Sophia made her way to the finale among 20 candidates as she consistently showcased her talents in the competition. She even secured the highest fan votes! To recall their missions, she performed Paramore’s Still Into You, Le Sserafim’s Antifragile, and Pussycat Dolls’ Buttons. For the final mission, the 10 candidates were divided into three groups to come up with an original and exclusive song.

On social media, the Dream Academy officially introduced Katseye.
“Dreams have officially become a reality. Introducing your newest global girl group: #KATSEYE,” the post read.
The Debut: Dream Academy premiered on September 1. It was a collaboration with HYBE Labels and Geffen Records that aimed to create a global girl group from a pool of over 120,000 candidates.
