Here’s What You Missed at the 2023 World Gin Day Event

The British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) held its 10th World Gin Day last Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Dusit Thani, Makati City.

The BCCP partnered with Ginebra San Miguel Incorporated (GSMI) and featured its latest Premium Gin and 1834. Meanwhile, major sponsors were Ayala Corporation and PMFTC Inc, with a Minor sponsor from ZG Summit Group.

There were a total of 14 UK gin companies that participated — Cambridge Distillery, Chatsworth Gin, Smeaton’s Gin, Jensen’s Gin, Brighton Gin, Maidstone Distillery, House of Elrick, Spirit of Trent, The Little Gin and Rum Company, Novus Brands 1000 Distillers, The English Drinks Company, Eight Lands, Stirling Distillery, and The Gael Spirits Company Ltd.

Attendees were able to explore 26 classic and unique UK gin flavours, such as fresh English botanicals, rhubarb, elderberry, truffle, cucumber, coconut dry, cavendish banana, pavilion-strength, bristol method, and rose pink.

Other than taste-testing various UK gins, event attendees also got to witness the 5th BCCP Bartending Competition which was joined by Crimson Hotel and Resorts, Dusit Thani Manila, and Manila Marriott Hotel. The proclaimed winner was Dusit Thani Manila’s representative, Joe Hary Delfin.

“This is our 10th World Gin Day event – and we are optimistic about continuing to develop business between the Philippines and the UK in the gin sector,” said BCCP Executive Director/Trustee Chris Nelson.

World Gin Day 2023 successfully gathered over 80 attendees. Some key attendees were BCCP Board Members such as Chairman William Bailey, Vice Chair Sarah McLeod, Treasurer Marie Mariano, and Trustees – Chris Ward, Albert Lim, and Andy Yates; GSMI’s AVP and Marketing Manager Ronald Molina; and the British Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission Alistair White.

The British Chamber hopes that events, such as the 10th World Gin Day, can foster a stronger relationship between various industries and markets of the Philippines and the UK.
