Jon Jon Briones Joins the Cast of the “Beauty and the Beast” Special

Fil-American actor Jon Jon Briones has joined the cast of the Beauty and the Beast special.

He will be playing the role of Maurice, Belle’s father. Belle will be played by H.E.R., a Fil-Am singer.

Briones is known for his roles as the Engineer in the West End and Broadway revival of Miss Saigon. He made his mark on TV in roles in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, American Horror Story: Apocalypse, and Ratched. He also voiced the role of Hank in the Netflix adaptation of the Filipino comic Trese.

Beauty and the Beast Live

This production of Beauty and the Beast combines live-action and animation, with sets and costumes inspired by the original film. It will also feature new musical performances.

It will air on ABC on December 15, 2022, in time for the 30th anniversary of the original film’s best picture nomination at the Academy Awards.

Joining Briones and H.E.R. are Josh Groban (Beast), Martin Short (Lumiere), David Alan Grier (Cogsworth), Shania Twain (Mrs. Potts), Leo Abelo Perry (Chip), Joshua Henry (Gaston), and Rizwan Manji (LeFou). Rita Moreno will narrate the story.
