‘How I Met Your Mother’ Is Getting a Sequel With Hilary Duff as the Main Star!

“Kids, I’m going to tell you an incredible story – the story of how I met your mother.”

This iconic line is what starts off what would become one of the most beloved television series in recent history. Running from 2005 to 2014, “How I Met Your Mother” followed the story of Ted Mosby and his group of friends in New York City’s Manhattan as he recounts to his son, Luke, and daughter, Penny, all the events that led him to meet their mother.

Now, seven years since its finale, creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are helping bring a sequel to life with Hilary Duff taking on the lead role!

The sequel, titled “How I Met Your Father,” follows Hilary’s character, Sophie, recounting to her son the events that led her to meet his father, which takes him and us viewers along for a ride to the year 2021 where we witness Sophie and her close friends in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.

This show will be helmed by “This Is Us” co-showrunners and “Love, Victor” co-creators Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. Bays and Thomas will be on board as executive producers. Hilary, who admitted to being a “huge fan” of “How I Met Your Mother,” will also be credited as the series producer.

“I’ve been incredibly lucky in my career to play some wonderful characters and I’m looking forward to taking on the role of Sophie,” she said in an official press release.
