Last year, it was announced that the much-loved Cartoon Network series ‘The Powerpuff Girls’ would be getting a live-action reboot. It was revealed that this version would see the trio as cynical 20-somethings dealing with their repressed anger after spending their childhood fighting crime. But then the world needs saving and they have to decide whether they should band together to save the world once again. (Obviously, they will. :p)
While the plot sounds nothing like what we know about The Powerpuff Girls, this isn’t really surprising, seeing as how the CW Network has done other reboots that are far from their original source material (‘Riverdale’, anyone?)
Well, in case you’re interested in checking out the live-action version, the cast has finally been revealed!
Chloe Bennet as Blossom
Chloe Bennet from ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ will star as Blossom Utonium. While we know Blossom as the spunky and smart leader, it seems the trauma of her childhood has left her feeling anxious and reclusive. However, she aims to be the leader once more – but on her own terms this time.
Dove Cameron as Bubbles
Dove Cameron from ‘Descendants’ will star as Bubbles Utonium. While we know Bubbles to be a cute and innocent little child, expect to see a tougher and wittier version of her this time around. She may be a bit more interested in getting her fame back, though.
Yana Perrault as Buttercup
Yana Perrault from ‘Jagged Little Pill’ will star as Buttercup Utonium. While we know Buttercup to be the rebellious and angry one of the bunch, look forward to seeing a more sensitive side to her here as she tries to forget her life as a Powerpuff Girl altogether.
So far, there is no news as to when the live-action reboot will be released, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for you!
