Vico Sotto says he doesn’t want any part in ‘DDS’ vs ‘Dilawan’ politics: “I have work to do”

During an interview on Quarantined with Howie Severino, Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto addressed the issue of his work as mayor being politicized. He expressed that he was neither ‘DDS’ nor ‘Dilawan’, choosing to focus on the duties of his position instead.

“Pero ako naman para sa akin wag din nila ako gamitin,” Sotto said of being tagged politically. “Whether kakampi ka or kalaban ka ng presidente, ‘wag nyo akong gamitin sa pulitika, pulitika n’yo kasi ako dito nagtatrabaho ako sa Pasig eh and I’ve been… we’ve been working so hard here in our LGU.”

Ako wala akong pakialam sa pulitika nila na national eh whether DDS, Dilawan… I don’t pay any attention to that because I have work to do. Hindi ako pwedeng mamulitika dito,” Sotto continued.

He added: “Again I really don’t care much further in national politics at this point because I have… kumbaga there’s a lot on my plate already. Hindi na para makisawsaw ako sa national politics.”

Sotto said that political opponents often highlight that he is not completely aligned with the Duterte administration but that should not overshadow the job he’s done as Pasig Mayor. He justifies that his political alliances are “irrelevant” as he should be judged by what he accomplishes in his position.
