Who could ever say no to cookies? Apparently not astronauts!
According to reports, a spacecraft containing an oven and cookie dough has just been sent to the International Space Station so that astronauts can finally try baking cookies in space for the first time.
The goal of the experiment is to test how high heat and zero gravity will affect the shape and consistency of the baked goods — that is if the oven that was specially designed by Zero G Kitchen to withstand microgravity will work as planned. If the experiment proves to be a success, astronauts living in the space station can finally be able to make fresh meals.
“Crew members may experience psychological and physiological benefits from eating flavorful cooked meals,” NASA said in a description of the experiment.
