Carlo Ledesma’s New Horror Film to Replace Kris Aquino’s ‘Kampon’ in MMFF 2019

After disqualifying Kris Aquino’s horror film “(K)ampon” from the Metro Manila Film Festival 2019, the festival organizers have now announced which movie will replace it as part of this year’s official entries.

On Facebook, it has been revealed that “Sunod,” directed by Carlo Ledesma, will be taking “(K)ampon’s” place.

Carlo was one of the screenwriters behind beloved MMFF 2016 animated movie “Saving Sally.”

“Sunod”, which is also under the horror genre, will star Carmina Villaroel, Mylene Dizon, Susan Africa, and Kate Alejandrino.

“Sunod” will be produced by TEN17P, a production house that has brought many award-winning films to life including “Dagitab,” “Transit,” “Siargao,” and “Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis.”

“(K)ampon” was dropped from the MMFF 2019’s entries after their request to change the lead actor from Derek Ramsay to Gabby Concepcion was denied. Derek had to withdraw from the film to prioritize his contract with GMA-7.

Allegedly, the group behind “(K)ampon” had submitted their request past the deadline.
