Fox has issued a script-to-series development order for Mitch Albom’s bestselling novel The Five People You Meet in Heaven. While the novel was already adapted into a Television movie in 2014, we can expect a deeper exploration of its themes and characters with this extended form of narrative. So get ready for this popular tale to make yet another play for your emotions.

The TV series will be jointly developed by Fox Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television. Mitch Albom himself is slated to work on the project as both screenplay writer and executive producer. Keith Eisner, showrunner for Designated Survivor and executive producer on The Good Wife, will also executive produce. Its episodes are intended to be an hour long each, though there has been no word on how many episodes the series will yield.
It is promised to revolve around the themes of love, hope, and human connection among others. This will be explored through the characters known and loved from the novel, with the show delving even deeper into each of their personal journeys and transitions from this world to the next. Undoubtedly, it will emphasize the interconnection that we humans have with each other in this life.
