5. Lusong Coral Reef

Coron is very proud of their wildlife and their coral reefs. They have every right to be. Most islands you will visit have corals everywhere and they try to maintain and protect them to the highest extent. That’s why I was surprised that they will be taking us to a “Coral Reef” place as I was thinking “Aren’t all the places here ‘coral-reef-places’?” Lusong Coral Reef near Lusong Island is said to be the best coral reef near Coron island.

Tip: Listen to your guides and follow the rules STRICTLY. Remember that you are merely a visitor of the sea and we should pay respect to the creatures in it. DO NOT go to shallow water where the corals can easily be harmed by human encounter. It is also for your safety as Corals are not plants but animals. DO NOT step on the corals as many of them are dangerous. Wear aqua shoes ( I bought one specially for my Coron trip) to protect myself and the corals.

4. Banana Island

The tour guides had a mouthful of jokes regarding Banana island as many are wondering why it was named so but not a single Banana tree thrives on it. They say it is because it is shaped as a banana leaf, thus its name.

These huts are Php 100-200 rental fee but some are free. They also have free hammocks around the island.

The shores were beautiful as they were shallow and you can bask under the sun longer after a tiring day of snorkeling. It is also where the tours will take you to have lunch.

You can also stay in the island if you’d wish. You can rent out these cottages for a fee. I heard it was around Php 1000 per person per night. For more details you can go to the sarisari store and ask. They also own the island. Wow.
