4 Reasons Why the Sweet Spot Cafe Really Hits the Spot

By now, Maginhawa is the go-to place of every foodie and person who is looking for something new to taste, see and experience. With all the restaurants and cafes that catch the fancy of many, there’s one spot in the famed strip that has captured my heart: The Sweet Spot CafeSweet Spot Cafe opened in July 2013. Two years and a few months later, this quaint cafe has gained a steady following of students and adults alike. And it’s no wonder, because The Sweet Spot Cafe is a total package.

4 Reasons Why the Sweet Spot Cafe Really Hits the Spot

4. Unique and Great-Tasting Food

Naturally, The Sweet Spot Cafe wouldn’t have lasted in the food game if they didn’t provide this. Their offerings are one-of-a-kind. They develop their own recipes and assure every guest that they only get a specific taste at The Sweet Spot Cafe alone (you have ALL the reasons to come back, yes). What I love about every dish (or dessert… their almighty, heavenly desserts) is that you can taste every layer of it – from the main ingredients to the spices and add-ons – but it still tastes amazing when eaten altogether. Some must-trys are:

The Sweet Spot

Crisped Beef Shortribs

Super crunchy but tender, you can eat them alone. Rice is optional.

The Sweet Spot

Satay Chicken Wings

Perfect for sharing! It’s like regular buffalo wings, but nutty and not too spicy.

The Sweet Spot

Pork Belly Mantau

Beats other sandwiches out there. I like how the mantau is siksik and the pork belly isn’t hard to bite.

The Sweet Spot

Ube Cheesecake

This is my favorite cheesecakes at The Sweet Spot Cafe. Even though my friends kept teasing me (because we learned that it’s more famous to the ‘older’ crowd, I’ve never tasted anything like it. Lasting ube taste without overpowering its being a cheesecake. This is love.

The Sweet Spot

Strawberry cheesecake

Even though I’m more of a blueberry than a strawberry fan, I liked it! Thick, creamy and not too sweet.

The Sweet Spot

Red Velvet Cake

One of their bestsellers, this cake is moist and creamy, too. It feels heavy, though, so save this for the very end of your meal.

3. Yummy Drinks

Using single-origin beans for their coffee-based drinks, you’re assured of quality brewed and specialty drinks in every cup/glass. Recommended:

Butterscotch

The Sweet Spot

Gingerbread, Match Mint and Speculoos Frappe

For tea fans, The Sweet Spot Cafe also has tea-based drinks that will win your approval. Their most treasured mixes? Try:

The Sweet Spot

Their version of the Singapore Sling. Non-alcoholic and bursting with fruity flavor.

The Sweet Spot

Kiwi Mint Lemonade

My favorite! It’s the non-alcoholic version of a mojito.
