24: Live The Adventure in Boracay with the When in Manila Agents

 

Two of When In Manila’s finest agents were recently sent to Boracay last May 1 to undergo a special 2-day training for Solar Entertainment’s 24: Live The Adventure under the Jack City division. The mission: to survive the series of challenges given out each day in order to become a full-pledged CIA Agent of Jack City. The challenges involved climbing the towering wall of doom, identifying faces in the midst of an unnerving chaos, military drills under the blazing sun, trekking before the CrossFit program and camouflaging as a mermaid to blend in the unsuspecting crowd.

With the headquarters located at The District, Boracay, the agents-in-training were provided the best of the best in order to hone and nurture their skills into becoming the exceptional agents they really are. Making sure that they are connected 24/7, Solar went ahead and provided an exclusive connection just for them. It wasn’t long before the training started, but before we get to the grungy details, let’s start with the journey first.

The agents were chosen prior to the event proper. With two coming from When In Manila, Smart and other various chapters totaling to eight agents or four teams, no one knew what Solar had in store for them. However, one thing was for sure: physical, mental and emotional challenges were to be expected.

Given a week to prepare, the agents were finally on their way to embark on a journey of self-discovery. At the break of dawn, they boarded their Skyjet plane together with some unfamiliar faces of Solar Entertainment. The flight was short, but the suspense grew even more intense. They knew that it was gonna be a long day and with anxiety brewing deep within, sleep was never an option.

The moment they stepped out of the plane, they were ready to battle. Scouring for faces that would soon be their adversaries, they gathered their things and kept their poker faces on. No one knew anyone. With only Ms. Angela Robinson to guide them, there was no telling who would bring forth the storm. Three more rides and a few hours after that, they would meet their facilitator and begin the exercises.

Benson was a calm-looking man with a smile always plastered on his face. He was the facilitator. And while he waited in front of The District, Boracay; the agents of different chapters rode silently throughout the whole trip. The moment they got to the headquarters, they were assigned to their rooms and treated to an opulent breakfast so as to regain their strength and replenish their energy. After all, the training would start in a few hours and nobody likes a slow toad.

And so, the agents were given a breather. They had about five hours to explore the area: hours that, in turn, should be used wisely. Some took their well-deserved sleep, some bought the essentials, while the others strategized to have a better chance at survival. It was not without a cause.

Hours ahead of time, the agents were given an envelope containing the information of the event proper. The items were confidential, the information top secret; but the message stayed the same: Jack Bauer is back! From there, the agents knew what to anticipate and what lay ahead, and yes, it was not gonna be pretty.

The moment of truth came and they had to face their first challenge: the towering wall of doom.

 Although it might look easy, climbing a wall is not exactly a piece of cake. In order to get to the top, you need patience and loads of stamina.

The agents were concerned about their safety, but as the saying goes: fortune favors the bold. Hence, they had to be strong, even if one was afraid of heights and another had a medical condition.

Everyone was triumphant in their own way, but only one received the prize of a roundtrip ticket for 2 to Coron, Palawan, courtesy of Skyjet. With that said, congratulations to Rod! Likewise, all agents were given a splendid treat: A pair of Patagonia shoes!

After the wall climbing sesh, all agents were advised to take a shower. Little did they know that there was a surprise waiting for them.

My Movie Channel, a different division under Solar Entertainment, gave all agents their own survival kit containing a variety of food, water and other essentials. All agents were expected to survive unexpected delays and mishaps with this kit (#notreallyasurvivalkit).

Not long after a sumptuous dinner, the next challenge began: they were to find unfamiliar faces amidst the undying crowd. Sadly, as the agents scoured for clues and familiarity, no one could find the LED Poi lady. Thus, they retreated back to their headquarters and consulted their concern, only to find out that the lady had deserted the place.

With the mission delayed, everyone was advised to call it a night. After all, they had three more challenges to prepare for and needed all the sleep that they could get. Due to exhaustion and lack of sleep, the agents retreated back to their designated rooms and let their dreams take over.
