Even before smartphones, Chromebooks, netbooks, and iPads, the Nokia came out with the 9000 Communicator in 1998. This nifty smartphone can send messages, fax, emails, and web browsing. I guess this was what convenience looked like in the 90’s.

Now, any conversation on why Nokia is the greatest thing to ever happen in mobile phones will always include the Nokia 3650. Take note of the U-shape. And the keypad that followed it. Now imagine texting using it. There was a time when the phone was very popular and came in all colors. We’re not sure what they were smoking, but in a matter of months, they released the 3660, which had the same shape but a normal-style keypad.

 

Nokia may be just a memory in many adults’ minds, but there was a time when it was the hottest thing since sliced bread. And it was a glorious, colorful, and sometimes confusing time. Maybe Apple could do the same thing and innovate new designs?
