There are several activities to choose from if you get bored of swimming. For a little extra cash, you can go horseback riding, paddle around the lake in a boat, rent out bicycles to ride around the trail, and play billiards or badminton. 

 

  

We had a lot of fun as we took turns paddling around the lake. The rowing was a good workout for our arms, too! It was a perfect, quiet and peaceful, sunshiny day and we had a blast splashing each other with the oars whenever we got too warm from the sun. 

 

  

As for the horseback riding, however, we were pretty disappointed. I want to issue you a warning right now: these are not the friendliest of horses, so if you see one wandering around and grazing, don’t walk up to it. I am a huge lover of horses and I slowly approached a gorgeous white one that I saw. I very nearly got kicked by him, had I not quickly jumped back. I still wanted to give the horseback riding a try, though, so we paid the fee and the worker came and prepared a small brown horse for riding.

 

 

And that would be my next complaint about the horse riding here – small. The horses seemed more like ponies and I was worried that I was too heavy for the poor thing. I was led around the track slowly by the worker and was pretty bored. As someone who has ridden horses several times in the past, I was used to having control over them, being able to ride at a faster pace, and, you know… riding a horse that was bigger than me. So the horseback riding would really be suitable only for kids or adults who don’t have much horse riding experience. 

 

 

Aside from the disappointing experience with the horses, though, we found Woodland Resort to be a lovely place to stay in Zamboanga City. The room, which we rented for 1000php a night, was small but cozy with its own bathroom, a big bed, an air conditioner and TV. The resort is beautiful to walk around with palm trees and pretty flowers everywhere, and plenty of birds and frogs to watch. It was such a quiet, peaceful place to spend our time at, and I look forward to our next stay!
