Inclusive technology is pivotal for developing solutions to today’s problems. In the pursuit of equitable technology, WiTech is working towards evolving the STEM industry and continuing to promote inclusivity and accessibility. It thus will be holding WiTCon 2021: #RewritingTheCode through the platform Zoom over the course of three days. This event will feature conversations and hands-on workshops on:

DAY 1: Technology in the time of the pandemic,

DAY 2: STEAM (STEM and the arts), and

DAY 3: WiTConnect, a day to meet other WiTech chapters and Filipino student-leaders, and to participate in a mini-ideathon.

The event is catered to anyone interested in widening their knowledge on the STEM industry, whether it be youth who wish to pursue careers in the fields of STEM, educators who are at the helm of inculcating values, or international participants looking for inspiration about what tech has to offer. Attendees need not have previous experience in programming, identify as a woman, or be based in Metro Manila. WiTCon’s purpose is to inspire future generations of technologists to help close the gender gap and to utilize innovation to create a difference within society.

With speakers from various STEM fields and workshops that give participants a peek into tech disciplines that they perhaps didn’t know existed, WiTCon doesn’t just aim to break glass ceilings, but also transform the field of technology. Attendees have the opportunity to learn from and interact with notable local technologists, become inspired to join the STEM industry, choose what workshops they would like to attend during the event, network with like-minded STEM-oriented Filipinos in a speed ideathon, and win raffle prizes*.

*Limited to local participants only
