When Facebook launched its Live feature, people, especially famous ones, found it as a way to broadcast their current activities to their followers.ย It was a way to connect deeper to people we only see on social media. But sometimes, even livestreams of regular netizensย can be interesting.
Take for example Candace Payne, an American mother of two who broke the record for hosting the most-watched Facebook Live video in history, with more than 123 million views. And no, she’s not doing anything extraordinary. She’s only trying on a Star Warsย Chewbacca mask she bought from a department store. So why is it the most watched video? Because it’s adorable.
It’s the simple joys in life….

In the video, she says that she went back to Kohl’s to return some clothes that didn’t fit. While waiting, she saw and bought a Chewbacca mask, which she tried on in the car. When she opened her mouth, the mask emitted Chewbacca’s roar, which made Payne erupt in glee. The video was titled “The simple joys in life,” and reminds us that happiness can be found anywhere.

Several employees of Kohl’s also showed up at Payne’s house, bringing Star Wars toys (including Chewbacca masks for everyone), $2,500 worth of gift cards (roughly P107,500), and 10,000 rewards points. A video of the visit was shared on Kohl’s Facebook page, with almost 20 million views.
Since Payne posted her video, the mask is now out-of-stock, and eBay sellers are selling it for $200 (roughly P8,600).
