WATCH- There is an All-American K-Pop Group and They Have a Song in Korean

We usually see white people portraying Asian roles in movies, but it turns out the same could happen in the music industry. Because now, there’s a K-pop group made up American boys. Strange? Well, you better get used to it.

The new all-American k-pop group is called EXP Edition. They are composed of Frankie, Sime, Koki, and Hunter, and are based in New York. They call themselves a “fresh hybrid of K-pop.”

They have a song coming up, called “Feel Like This,” and it’s in Korean.

Watch the newly released music video below:

The music video starts with the boys in a tunnel, where they light up colored flares. They then move to a forest, then an abandoned building. They certainly look the part: their style is inspired by male K-pop stars.

EXP Edition actually started two years ago as a thesis project called I’m Making a Boy Band by Colombia graduate student Bora Kim, along with Karin Kuroda and Samantha Shao. Their study aims to study “gender, sexuality, business culture, fandom and cultural appropriation in Korean pop.”

She raised $30,000 (roughly P1.5 million) on Kickstarter for a mini-album. Together, the members (which started as a larger group) moved to South Korea to study Korean and record music.

What do you think of the group? Share your thoughts below!
