Earlier this year, it was announced that the hit Netflix show Sense8 has been mysteriously canceled. After two short seasons and a strong fandom, the streaming platform announced that it would cancel the show without a clean finale. Fans were disappointed, and a Renew Sense8 website and a Change.org petition were quickly mobilized. The petition gathered half a million signatures.
Netflix won’t be bringing back the show, but they announced that they would stream a two-hour long finale to give it the send-off it deserves. And the trailer is here:
The show, developed by The Wachowskis (who wrote and directed The Matrix Trilogy), tells the story of eight sensates from around the world who are mentally and emotionally linked. It was praised for its international cast, as well as for tackling issues not commonly explored in TV, like politics, identity, sexuality, gender, and religion. Critics loved it, too, with Rotten Tomatoes saying that its second season “maintains its stunning visuals, Wachowski wackiness, and great heart.”
The two-hour finale will premiere on June 8, 2018.
