WATCH: The 2010 Cast of “Rent” Joins the 2024 Cast to Sing “Seasons of Love”

Rent‘s past and present cast united to deliver a powerful performance of one of its hit songs, “Seasons of Love.”

9 Works Theatrical’s production of Rent, which opens April 19, 2024, held a preview for the press and friends the night before.

It turned out some of the friends invited were the cast members of 9 Works Theatrical’s 2010 production, which was its first full-length musical since it opened in 2009.

The 2010 production features Gian Magdangal, Sheree Bautista, Fredison Lo, OJ Mariano, Job Bautista, Jenny Villegas, Lorenz Martinez, Carla Guevara-Laforteza, Mian Dimacali, Peachy Atilano, Harold Cruz, Johann dela Fuente, Pam Imperial, Gary Junsay, Anna Santamaria, Alys Serdenia, Mark Tayag, Ciara Sotto, and Al Gatmaitan.

Some of the actors, many of whom are still active in theatre, joined the show’s current cast on stage.

These include Anthony Rosaldo, Reb Atadero, Ian Pangilinan, Thea Astley, Garret Bolden, Lance Reblando, Justine Peña, Jasmine Fitzgerald, Mica Fajardo, Fay Castro, Markki Stroem, Guji Lorenzana, Jordan Andrews, Chesko Rodriguez, Vyen Villanueva, Abi Sulit, Paul Valdez, Misha Fabian, and Kai Banson.

Rent is a rock musical by Jonathan Larson that debuted on Broadway in 1996. It follows a group of young adults trying to navigate poverty, the loss of love, the discovery of romance, and the pursuit of their dreams in the city, with the constant shadow of HIV and AIDS looming over them.

The year it premiered, it won four Tony Awards (including Best Musical), six Drama Desk Awards (including Outstanding Musical), and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. In 2005, it was adapted into a film starring six out of the eight members of the Broadway cast.

Rent will be showing from April 19 to June 1, 2024, at 3 PM and 8 PM on Saturdays and Sundays and 8 PM on Fridays. The musical will be staged at the CPR Auditorium, RCBC Plaza in Makati. Tickets are now available via ticket2me.net.
