Do ghosts and ghouls fascinate you? If yes, then youโre in for a treat. If you loved listening to horror stories as a kid, then you might have read or heard of the announcement that a film adaptation of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is in the works. The novel which the film will be based on is a three-part series written by Alvin Schwartz and illustrated by Stephen Gammell. The book is heavily inspired by folklore and urban legends so you can expect to encounter scarecrows and ghouls when you read it. Who would have thought that there exists a horror story book with nightmarish graphics for children?!
If youโre one of the brave souls who canโt get enough of Schwartzโs terrifying stories, then you shouldn’t miss out on the new official trailer which CBS Films just released a few hours ago. The video is embedded in the article below.
In a preview in New York City, del Toro and รvredal showed the audience a few of the filmโs snippets. They also announced that instead of making it a series like the books, they decided to compress it into one single movie.
According to them, the film will contain around four to five stories from the novel. The duo also revealed that the movie will be rated PG-13 as the film was really meant for young audiences.
The film is said to take place in 1960s America and it tells the story of a group of children who stumbled upon a magic book. This magic book writes on itself based on the readerโs fears.
Now, we wonโt keep you waiting any longer. Below is the trailer to the anticipated childrenโs horror film. Make sure to Grab your popcorn and turn off (or on?) the lights before you click that play button.
