Durian is a common fruit in Southeast Asia. Some call it as the undisputed king of fruits in our region. It is popular in the Philippines, specifically in Davao City. It is dubbed as an exotic fruit known for its foul smell yet exquisite taste and custard-like texture. In some countries like Singapore, durian is banned in most public places including the subway, airlines, and hotels.
Actress Jessica Chastain has grown a liking for durian while doing press tours for the film “The Huntsman: Winter’s War.” She brought Jimmy Kimmel durian as gift on the show. Together, they opened it up and ate it.

Chastain described the fruit as having one-of-a-kind taste as a custard that’s flavored with a combination of onions, garlic, pineapple, and avocado, admitting that “it kind of smells like a garbage can.”
Kimmel seemed to not be quite as fond of the fruit as Chastain, saying that it is “on the line between horrible and delicious.”
