WATCH: Beauty and the Beast 1991 and 2017 Trailer Versions are Almost Identical

In case you haven’t heard yet, a live action remake of the 1991 animated Disney classic Beauty and the Beast is happening, and it stars one of everyone’s favorite sweethearts, Emma Watson. Directed by Bill Condon and written by Evan Spiliotopoulos and Stephen Chbosky, whom Watson also worked with on Perks of Being a Wallflower, Beauty and the Beast will be released in theaters in March 2017.

WATCH The First Beauty and the Beast Trailer is Here!

Just earlier this week, the first official trailer for the film was finally released, giving us a (short but super satisfying) glimpse of Emma Watson as Belle. You may watch the trailer here.

But, because the internet is the internet and it knows everything, people started to notice the uncanny similarity of the 2017 live action trailer of Beauty and the Beast to the original 1991 animated one. I mean, it is almost, exactly the same. From the Disney opening billboard to the final shot showing Belle taking a first look at the Beast’s famous, sparkly rose, it is evident that Condon wants to pay homage to the classic original that has long been—and still is—loved by many.
