In lieu of the country’s hosting of the Southeast Asian Games 2019 (SEA Games 2019), several schools announced class suspensions on December 2 to 7.

Earlier, Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) spokesperson Assistant Secretary Celine Pialago said they recommended class suspensions from December 2 to 6 in seven schools in Manila in regards to the SEA Games hosting.

However, Pialago did not name these seven schools. Most of these schools are located near the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Malate, Manila where most of the SEA Games events would be held.

Pialago added that as early as November 13, sendoff of Filipino athletes will commence and this will also be held at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Additionally, the rehearsal of the opening ceremony will also be held to predict the flow of traffic.

Aside from class suspensions, Pialago hopes that malls will not hold sale events during this time.

Here are the schools that announced class suspensions as of press time:

  • De La Salle University – Taft – December 2 to December 7
  • De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde – December 2 to December 7
  • Benilde Deaf School – December 2 to December 7
  • Arellano Law School – December 2 to December 7
  • St. Scholastica – December 2 to December 7
  • St. Paul College Pasig – December 2 to December 6
