On Thursday, October 7, Vice President Leni Robredo finally files her certificate of candidacy for the presidential seat for the upcoming national elections in 2022.
Robredo is running independently and was endorsed by opposition coalition 1Sambayan as their presidential bid. Netizens have been waiting for her official announcement regarding her plans for the upcoming elections since 1Sambayan announced their endorsement of the vice president.

“Ina akong nakikita ang pagdurusa ng minamahal kong bansa. Naniniwala ako ang pag-ibig, nasusukat hindi lang sa pagtitiis, kundi sa kahandaang lumaban kahit gaano kahirap para matapos na ang pagtitiis. Ang nagmamahal kailangang ipaglaban ang minamahal,” Robredo says in her speech. (“I am a mother who sees the suffering of my country.
I believe that love is not just measured by endurance, but by being willing to fight no matter how hard it is just to end that suffering. The one who loves must fight for what they love.”)
Her supporters responded with cheers and chants of her name.

The vice president will be running against Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Senator Manny Pacquiao, Bongbong Marcos, and Senator Ping Lacson.
