Viva Manila: Car-Free Pasyal Sundays
You should know that, as a city, Manila is mad. However, the madness is also gallant. During the weekdays, we wake up early for the morning commute,ย tread our way through chaotic and heavy traffic, and grab anything that is instant to meet the demands of modern and corporate life.
Thank God, the so-called weekend was created, though, and I am even more thankful that Viva Manila‘s Pasyal Sundays project was invented!
Pasyal Sundays is the flagship project of Viva Manila, which free for the general public. This car-free event hypes up local artists and performers, as well as local and neighborhood businesses, with hopes of promoting the rich and fascinating culture and arts of the Old Manila and bolstering local ingenuity.
The Pasyal event will be held monthly, on the dates, March 16 (which happened recently), April 27 and May 25, 2014, along General Luna street, Intra muros. ย The March edition’s theme is “Speak Out!
” wherein, one of the highlights of the event is an open poetry slam, as well as various workshops, and performances to embolden sharing of thoughts and opinions that can hopefully inspire others to speak one’s mind, to ย see, experience and care more about Manila and its heritage.
To brighten up the one-of-a-kind event even more, booths were also present along the beautiful streets of the Walled city, exhibiting the creativity and individuality of the local artists. Here are some of it:
Green Gourmet Artisan Soap
All the soaps are handmade, each one of which has carefully formulated recipes enriched with an array of natural additives that make them unique and extra luxurious. I swear, their products smelled so yummy, I actually wanted to eat them!!!

Bubble Talk Booth
This booth’s simple objective is to promote freedom of speech, by letting people write anything that they want on a bubble and add it up in the line of expression. Straightforward but cool, huh?
This specific day was so full of positive vibes, though, I could hardly think of anything to write. I think a positive mantra overflow just occurred!
